What is an HR1 form?
An HR1 is an advance notice that an employer submits to the Redundancy Payments Service when it proposes at least 20 redundancies at one establishment within 90 days. It records proposed cuts. Filing a form does not mean those jobs have already gone.
When must an employer file?
For 20 to 99 proposed redundancies, the employer must notify the service at least 30 days before the first dismissal. For 100 or more, the period is at least 45 days. The GOV.UK redundancy consultation guide sets out the rules and links to the form.
What is published?
The ONS HR1 dataset publishes counts of potential redundancies and employers submitting forms by region and industry across Great Britain. It does not publish a list of employers or individual HR1 forms. Smaller rounds below the filing threshold are absent from those counts.
The home page shows the latest HR1 figure alongside the job cuts that layoffs.uk can name from public sources.
