Prepare your redundancy questions
Take a short question sheet to your employer or representative. Use it when your role is at risk or a proposed payment is unclear.
No figures or documents are needed. The questions help you request information; they do not decide your rights or whether an offer is fair.
Choose what you need
If a payment is proposed but no breakdown is available, start by asking for an itemised written calculation and payment dates. You can use this sheet without working out any figures.
If your employer is insolvent
This needs a separate official claim process. Ask the insolvency practitioner about the reference and documents you need. Do not delay benefits advice while waiting for a payment.

Alternatives and training
What alternatives to redundancy have you considered? Which internal roles, changes to hours or training could be discussed?
Ask for current vacancies and any redeployment or training process.
Selection and consultation
How was my role included? What selection criteria, information and feedback process apply? When will I receive a written response?
Ask for the proposal, applicable policy, selection information and meeting dates.
Dates and changes
What are the proposed notice and leaving dates? If they change, how will that affect pay or starting another job?
Keep the original and changed dates in writing. Get advice before agreeing or leaving early.
Redundancy award
What are the statutory and enhanced amounts? Is the enhanced figure the total award or an addition? Which service dates, pay figure and written terms were used?
Ask for an itemised written calculation and the contract, policy or scheme it uses.
Notice, holiday and final wages
Which amounts cover notice, holiday and final wages? Will notice be worked or paid instead? What tax deductions will be shown?
Keep these components separate from the redundancy award. Request the final payslip and the basis of each deduction.
Payment and unanswered questions
When will each payment arrive? Who will answer any missing or conflicting details, and by when?
Ask for payment dates and the contact or appeal process in writing. Do not wait for a reply if an advice deadline may apply.
What to do next
Ask your employer, union or employee representative to answer the questions in writing. Keep their response with the proposal, contract and payslips. Record what is still unknown.

Asked to sign a settlement agreement? Get independent legal advice. This sheet cannot review the agreement. In Northern Ireland, ask the Labour Relations Agency about the appropriate advice route.

For optional figures, use the pay calculator. Its estimates depend on your inputs and do not establish an enhanced entitlement.
Your selections and notes stay in this browser. They are not put into links, sent to this site or passed to AI. Save is optional and uses this device's browser storage. Anyone using the same browser may see a saved sheet; erase it when finished. Printing, copying and downloaded files create separate copies that erasing here cannot remove.
